What is causing my computer to restart on its own?

1st cause, operating system corruption. 2nd cause, memory problem of the computer. 3rd cause, hard drive failure. Most common cause would be the 1st one, i suggest to try to boot to safe mode to check, it it restarts at safe mode, it's memory or hard drive issue. run diags on your memory to isolate the memory issue.

There are too many reasons for this thing, generally pc restart is due to heat problem and sometimes it's your ram. Maybe you didn't install it well.

There could be a virus or other spyware preventing it from booting all the way. Corrupt data files to help boot could also be a problem. I'd advise booting into safe mode and then using an antivirus or spyware program asap

A viral attack or damage to operating system's files may cause restart a pc of its own. It may also be due to any accidental loss of dll files.

This usually means one of two things. Either your computer has a serious fault or error and keeps restarting because it cannot complete its programming or you have some form of malware installed on your computer. This should be taken to a repair shop immediately.

There are 3 reasons a computer restarts on it's own. It may just need to be cleaned out with compressed air to removed dust. Dust will cause it to over heat and restart. Some computer virus, such as the blasterworm can cause it to restart. Last, if you have an older computer the mother board or processor may need replacing.
