Asphalt is crushed up rock sand and tar. It is used to pave roads and is poared out a machine on to the road where it is flattened and drys. From there, it is good to go and can be driven on. Asphalt can also be used in roofing in order to keep shingles on.

asphalt is like tar that is layed on roads it is strong wearing and is expensive it is also used on flat roofs to seal them from damp.
