What is a "true democracy"?

A true democracy would be one person one vote. Technically we do not have one because we do not directly vote for the president. Also we exclude felons from the voting.

A true democracy would require direct voting on issues by the citizenry. The United States is not a democracy by any means, but rather founded as a constitutional republic.
