Television projector screens are made of a canvas that is coated with a polyurithane plastic. The canvas is made of fibers that vary around the world. Polyurithane is made from fractionizing crude oil and further refinement.

I once read an interesting article about this very topic. They said the screens are made out of a tough canvas that is coated in some petroleum based fluid. It's what gives it that smooth feel, and good reflection. I'm not sure you could make something similar with household materials.
