A Teacup Chihuahua is named that because it is so small it could comfortably fit in a tea cup. These little dogs can live to be 16 years old, bark frequently, are easily frightened, very sensitive and would make an ideal pet for an elderly person due to their small size.

The word teacup is often used when referring to a very tiny dog. They are at the low end or below the standard weight. It is mostly used as a marketing term. This brings the seller higher profits. However,no major clubs or groups such as the AKC recognize the term.

Teacup is the term that describe the size of the Chihuahua. Teacup Chihuahua is not a breed, they are just extra small Chihuahuas. Full grown Chihuahuas ranging from 2 to 4 pounds can be considered a teacup.

"Teacup" is a term used to describe Chihuahuas on the lower end of the breed's weight standards - a teacup Chihuahua is usually between two and four pounds. Teacup Chihuahuas are not a separate breed from regular Chihuahuas.

I am not familiar with the "teacup" term but, I would say that is pretty obvious: A Chihuaha dog with the size of a teacup, like the ones you carry around with you inside your bag like Paris Hilton!

Teacup basically just means smaller than normal. A Teacup Chihuahua is just a regular Chihuahua but it's smaller in size. There are no other differences. Breeders started breeding dogs smaller because it was more appealing but not healthy for the dog so sometimes Teacups have more health problems.
