In database management, a superkey is an attribute or attributes that are used to define a particular record uniquely. A social security number is an example of a real-world superkey.

A superkey is used in rational databases. It is usally the "column" that contains indexes uniquely identifying rows in a table.

It was initially referred on some Keyboard named Space-cadet. It was a modifier on it's functions on writing. Today,we can describe the Super Key as the Windows key,or Command Key. It's function,as we can all see or say,or either use by now,it's for calling the start menu or either one mouse button by the key.

The "Super Key" was an extra modifier key on MIT Lisp machines. It corresponds to the Windows key on most modern keyboards, Sun's diamond meta key, and Apple's cloverleaf-symbol Command key.
