A subchorionic hemorrhage is a clot of blood that gathers between the placenta and the uterus. The overwhelming majority of pregnancies with a subchorionic hemorrhage progress without complication.

Subchorionic hemorrhage is bleeding behind the placenta which is commonly caused by a clot which may take time to dissolve and require bed rest.
