Porcupines make their home in deserts, hillsides, grasslands and rocky areas. Porcupines found in North and South America are very good climbers with the use of their tail and usually live in trees. They live in cold parts of the world like North America and in hot parts of the world like Africa and Southern Europe.

A porcupine prefers to live in the wild amongst the woodsy forest and the grassy ground. They have dark color coats to help them stay out of danger. They also love to nibble upon fungus and fallen fruits. Now, also since porcupines are very docile creatures, people have kept them as pets, with blankets on the floor. They adapt well.
