The term "swarm" sometimes is used and implies that there is an ability on the part of the jellyfish to keep together. Moon jellies are one type of jellyfish that have this ability, but not all species do. Another term is "bloom." That term implies a larger group of jellyfish than would be typical or expected.

A group of jelly fish is referred to as a smack, smuck, bloom, brood, smuth, or fluther. This sounds odd i know but this is whaty they are referred to as. Or.....you could just simply call them good ol jellyfish since most people aren't familiar with smack or smuck :)

There are several names for a group of jellyfish and most of them are funny! They can be called a smack or a smuck; bloom or a brood, or even smuth or fluther. One of the names seems to emenate from the fact that jellyfish gather and look like a bloom, not sure where the others come from.
