A good theme in Puloined letter is that a letter of an unknown lady was stolen by somebody a minister and later a lady was threatened and blackmailed for some important information in that letter.Another thing is that how can a stranger enter a room to steal something if a door is locked?

You could focus on things which are hidden in plain sight. The hiding place of the purloined letter was right out in the open and many other things in life are like that, such as when you look for something, can't find it, and then discover that it was right in front of you the whole time.
