In our current bathroom, my husband and I recently re - did our shower. The floor tiles are an olive green, and each measure to about 3 1/2 inches each. We were having trouble choosing between one inch tiles and 3 1/2 inch, but I know we chose correctly. My husband and I are very pleased.

When tiling a shower floor it is best to use tile that is 2 inches square or smaller. This allows the tile to follow the contour of the cement shower floor, which is sloped to direct the water to the drain.

Most bathrooms are equipped with 5x5 tiles on the floor and 2. 5x2. 5 tiles on the wall. But ultimately it's really up to you, if your doing it by yourself, just call a contractor and ask him for quotes and what your options are (He will give you free ideas! Just don't let him know you aren't going to be buying)!

You may either use large tile - around 14 inches in size - or choose to use a bigger quantity of small tiles - around 1 inch in size.

A good size for a shower floor tile, I would say, would be about 6 inches x 6 inches. You really wouldn't want it to be that big, because then the water would seep in if the glue doesn't bond well.
