Last fall, FYE was selling the previous Nano for $49.00 right before the 5th Generation went on the shelves. If you can track when Gen 6 comes out, the Gen 5 should be on sale through FYE and other retailers. Be cautious of used and refurbished Nanos and Touches, the flash memory has a certain amount of cycles.

I'd say go with an iPod Touch since they're so useful anywhere you go with applications etc. Try to buy a used working one. A lot of people upgrade to iPhones and then have unused iPod Touches lying around. See if you can buy a used one from someone ~$75-150.

Unfortunately Ipods are one of the more expensive brand out their. I would go with a Samsung personally since they have more features and are generally cheaper. You can find some Ipods for less then $100. New 2gb shuffles are around $50 and used/refurbed classics for $70.

Price depends on quality. If the deal sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you want good quality, expect to pay a little bit more, but it will be worth it. You also have to consider the age of the iPod. Older ones will generally be less expensive. There are a lot of factors to consider.

The best IPods out there are Apple Ipods because they are easy to synch and put music onto them. You can buy them brand new or sometimes find a good deal for a used one on the internet. If you want an apple Ipod with a warranty and want to save money you can buy refurbished form apple.
