What is a communist life like?

In general terms Communist life requires the means of production to be owned by the public rather than private enterprises. All economic planning is done through the central government. There is little room for private innovation as the government decides what should be built and what resources will be used to build it.

Communist life is all about uniformity. You don't stand out and you don't speak out. You can't say anything bad about the government or they will come after you.

There are constant shortages. This is because central planning has never met demand, and low wages for mean little can be purchased without rationing (along with horrific corruption). Cuba has even had to import toilet paper, as of 2009. North Korea has had to import food for ten years, despite the majority of their people working on farms.
