The problem with MS and drinking is that some MS pain medications interact with alcohol. Just make sure to read the labels on all your medications. After that, happy drinking! Drinking can reduce MS pain, but don't overdo it.

With Multiple Sclerosis there is already coordination and balance problems. Since the effects of alcohol are felt much quicker in an MS patient, it makes their coordination problems worse. Alcohol does not mix with some of the medication taken for MS. Alcohol causes stress. Stress makes MS symptoms appear.

When multiple sclerosis and alcohol come together it tends to get you drunk at a faster rate. You can still drink but not as much.

Multiple sclerosis leads to lesions or sclerosis on various nerves of the body. It can affect vision, balance, hearing, tactile sensations, and movement. If lesions occur on the spine, it can cause paralysis. While alcohol does not specifically worsen the condition, it may interact badly with drugs for MS and can worse existing symptoms like worsened balance.
