The 4WD switch indicates to the ECU whether the Jeep is in 4WD High gear or 4WD Low gear. The "service 4WD switch" light means that that switch has burnt out and needs to be replaced. The part is only about $40 and is located near the transfer case on the drivers side.

Thislight indicates that you are about to have problems with the 4 x4 mechanism is your jeep. If the mechanism is not serviced soon you will not be able to shift the Jeep into or out of 4wd.

It means there is something in the 4 wheel drive that needs to be serviced. It may be the transfer case needs to have the oil changed or the screen cleaned. You can call the dealer they should be able to tell you better than I can what may be causing it and what it means.

Service four wheel drive switch can mean anything. If it is lit up, there could be a possible problem to your four wheel drive system. The specific problem maybe indeterminable until the vehicle is brought to the dealer ship. Have them check the system for possible problem. Have it checked as soon as possible.
