Very possibly you are dealing with a situation in your life that you wish not to acknowledge (being followed) and that you are being used and/or treated very negativly by someone you believed to be loyal (dog).Our minds tell us more sleeping than awake. Being treated like a dog by someone you believed good?Analyze those near you.

Most people see dogs as somewhat of a protective companion. If the dogs in your dreams aren't trying to harm you, they may represent a protective presense in your life. If they are trying to hurt you, they can represent a problem you're trying to avoid.

That would depend on what dogs mean to you. If the thought of dogs are happy thoughts, then dogs following you would mean happiness following you.
