Does it always mean a cat is happy?
Answer by aussiegirl (711)
purring is a respiratory response from a feline. it generally means they are happy, but I have known cats to purr when they attack. so take it with the other body language.

As far as I know, if a kitten is purring they are happy, or at the least feel safe and relaxed.
