Asymmetric density on a mammogram means that the dense-ness or depth of your breast tissue is not consistent throughout the breast. In some places it is thinner or more dense and these areas do not mirror each other in location. Asymmetric means "not matching the opposite side. " Density means thickness.

Asymetric Density is simply a difference of the ammount tissue between the breasts. It's normal to have one breast be larger than the other but you must be careful- the difference in density can be anything from cysts to cancerous material. If there is any pain or dicharge from the nipple, speak with your doctor.

It's a simple observation of the breast tissues and is very common in older rather than younger women. If there was any question you would have further images taken.

This means the distribution of tissue mass in your breasts isn't equal. This can indicate a developing mass, but often is just the way you are. Make your doctor explain!

Asymmetric density means that your breast tissue is not the same density throughout both breasts. This is common and is usually not serious, but in some cases can indicate cancer.

There was something on your mammogram that the doctor saw, you should ask your doctor what he or she meant.
