A word that is spelled the same from both ways -- forward and backward -- is called a palindrome. Alternatively, you could refer to it as a palindromic word. A palindrome is not necessarily a single word, however. Some examples of palindromes are: racecar, deed, level, pip, rotor, civic, pop, madam, eye, nun, radar, toot, and "live evil."
