Several titles could be given to a person making objects from clay depending on what they are making. A sculptor is an artist who makes sculptures from clay. A potter is someone who makes items like plates and vessels from clay.

It depends on which kind of clay and what they make. You can call them a potter if they make pottery. Or you can just say "crafter" for polymer clay.

A ceramist. Many use the term potter as well, but this only applies if you're working on a potter's wheel and making vessels. Ceramist encompasses all craftsmanship in clay and clay technologies.

The general term would probably be ceramic artist. Potter or sculptor could be suitable, depending on the details of the work done. Pottery is made from clay and then fired.
