What do I need to know about a pinto horse foaling?

Study proper foal presentation. Have towels, iodine, gloves on hand. Braid mare's tail up out of the way. Placenta should be expelled with in an hour after foal's birth. Call vet for excessive bleeding, improper foal presentation, or retained placenta. Rub foal down and dip umbilical stump with iodine. Offer mare warm bran mash once she is up.

Have a foaling kit on hand. Include towels, long gloves, iodine to apply to umbilical cord. Check that foal is presenting properly with front feet first. Hooves will be pointing down, one slightly behind the other in proper presentation. Call vet IMMEDIATELY if hooves are pointing UP.

It makes no difference that the horse is a pinto. Most mares actually need very little help when foaling, as even first-time mothers instinctively will know what to do. Just make sure the mare and foal are both on their feet within a half-hour after the birth.

A pinto horse would not foal. We use "horse" to mean male. A pinto mare would foal. You need to know all the things you would need to know about any foaling. Google "foaling process" for videos, books, and more information. Get a good book and study!
