Generally speaking when a guy likes a girl he will try to get her attention. How they do it depends on their level of maturity. They might invite her for a dinner, or to do some activity together, or give gifts. Sometimes when they are not sure what to do they might just "act weird' like your friend does.

It can be taken as a symptom of his love towards you. Most cases friendship leads to love affair. If you also likes him, why can't you go more closer to him? You try to study his character more closely and find out whether it is a true love. It is more important to find out his intention.
