What did you think of the book Square Foot Gardening by Mel Bartholomew?

I remember the television series and had the book years ago when i used to have a small garden, it is generally good for people with small gardens but the square foot method just seems silly in a large garden when it tries to be minimalist it comes off as hokey.

A very popular book and full of information for anyone interested in small, even extremely small-area gardening. The author uses four foot by four foot boxes and suggests that his methods will reduce effort, water consumption, seed consumption, etc. He deals with the specific needs of each plant, the type of soil to be used, etc.
