Basically, they're togas. Chitons (pronounced KAI-tons) were either Doric or Ionic. Both were rectangles of fabric, which women wrapped into a dress. The Doric chiton was sleeveless and was pinned at the shoulder. As skills advanced, the Ionic came along complete with sleeves buttoned from neck to wrist.

A chiton is a lot like a basic toga. It is a rectangular piece of fabric. The fabric is flesh against one side of the body, with the ends at the other side. Two pins hold up the chiton at the shoulders. A piece of rope, or cord is tied around the waist. That is a basic chiton.

It basically resembled an oval shape. Also, it was very long and it was usually worn by woman. It went down to the foot.
