What could cause spots on my clothes after I have washed them?

It is likely the type of detergent you are using or if you are using a pre-treatment like Stain Stick. Concentrated areas of cleaning products can cause discolorations. Or if the spots are darker, there may be a problem with your washer. Try running it without any cleaner in it.

If the spots are white, and if you use a powder detergent, it could be that the detergent is not all getting rinsed out of the clothes. If this is a possibility, try rinsing them again, and make sure your load is not too full so that the clothes can really agitate. If dark, something may have bled onto them.

Older clothes washers can cause grease spots on clothing as they are washed. It's possible that your washer needs service or needs to be replaced.
