What could cause an orchid to lose its flowers?

Orchids will lose their flowers after a certain time because they are spent and are producing new flowers on the stem. Also, some will lose flowers when they are too dry or have parasites.

Your orchid is resting. Put it in a mimimal light spot and don't water for a few weeks,then water every couple weeks until it sends up flowers again.

Orchid flowers are more hardy then most people believe, but they do lose their flowers on occasion. It could be the growing process, but if it is before its time you may try letting the plant dry out a bit and giving it more sunlight.

Depending on the kind of orchid, flowers will last from 3-4 days all the way up to a month or so. Just like any flower, they eventually stop blooming.
