You may have a very weak battery or the alternator is about to go out. Maybe you should check to see if the starter is lose or some of your belts. Sometimes you may just want to add starter fluid to the engine once a month just for routine maintenance. Check your owner's manual.

Many things could be faulty. The car should be properly diagnosed by a skilled mechanic. Initially, based on symptoms, one could expect that the starter of alternator could be going bad. The battery could also be failing or in an intermittent state. This ignition path is worth investigating as well.

If your Oldsmobile Alero is inconsistent in starting the first place I would check is the starter. There may be mechanical issues the starter which won't allow it to fire.

It could be a weak battery that causes a car to not start sometimes. Check the battery strength or check the starter.
