What could be wrong with my Kenmore refrigerator that has an odd taste to the water from the dispenser?

Many things. When was the filter last changed? If it has been a long time, that that is probably the cause. Other things could be mud in the line, which happens a lot if you live in a newly built development. You should change the filter every month if you do live in a new development

We have a Kenmore refrigerator as well and if the water tastes funny then you should definitely change the water filter which is probably old and in need of replacement.

The problem might be with your filter. Either you haven't changed it in a while or you have recently changed it. Both could be causes of the funny taste.

If the water tastes different than the source (tap), then it is likely caused by the plastic lining in the refrigerator (it imparts a taste). This is common for refrigerators.

The water filter in the door probably needs to be changed. They usually need to be changed every six months or so, depending on how much you use your dispenser. You can get them from most hardware or appliance stores. It'll come with instructions on how to install it.

it is probably the pipes that takes the water to the refrigerator, that causes that odd taste to the water.

My ice maker does not work anymore, neither does my water dispenser. What could be wrong?
