Excessively shaking the head can cause dizziness although viruses and other infections may also cause this sensation. Other more serious issues may be due to low or high blood pressure, heart problems, metabolic problems, or other cerebral problems.

An inner ear infection or labrythitis is the most common underlying cause of dizziness when moving your head. Other important reasons could be MS, diabetes and low blood sugar, a concussion or any other brain trauma are also possible causes, but less likely than the aforementioned infection, which is the most common reason.

It is caused for insufficient flow of blood at that moment. Since your blood provides oxygen to your brain to work all time, so it pumps blood to protect itself b keeping essential things fed with blood and others not. The blood stays lower only for a few seconds, but it is enough to give you the giddiness or dizziness.
