It could be cancer, a tumor, it may be a discoloration. That is hard to judge without knowing how big the spot is, where the spot is, is the patient a smoker? Around smokers? Are they active? Have they been sick recently? Too broad of a question. Speak with a doctor, they can better estimate.

A spot on the lungs could be caused by several different things. Pneumonia could be a cause, and would need to be treated by a physician. However, a spot on the lungs could also indicate a tumor, which would most likely be a form of lung cancer, which has a low survival rate.

It could point to cancer, especially if the affected person is a smoker. It could also be a scar from a previous illness, such as pneumonia. It might also be a sign of the disease Tuberculosis. On a positive note, it might only be sarcoidosis which is a granuloma and is non-malignant.

Provided you were subjected to a Ct scan there are many things that could cause a spot. It could be a previous exposure to tuberculosis that had healed or an ongoing infection or pneumonia. In some cases where it is found calcified with enormous mass and density, you may be asked to undergo a biopsy to confirm your status.
