Swollen ovaries can be from ovarian cysts or from other inflammatory diseases such as PID and PCOS. It is best to have your doctor examine your ovaries with a scan to rule out anything more serious.

Ovarian Cysts can cause swelling. Increased salt intake can cause swelling of the body and its' reproductive organs. Any trauma during labor could cause this condition. Pelvic inflamatory disease (PID) could also be the cause, but you usually have a fever with this disease.

If you have many follicles developing in your ovaries, either based on using fertility drugs or a condition called polycystic ovarian syndrome, your ovaries could swell to accomodate all the follicles.
