A simple pulled muscle or bruise is usually the problem and it should go away. If there is no injury then I would suggest stress. It shows up in the chest and rib area a lot even in the breast muscles itself.

You could have strained your intercostal muscles which lie between your ribs. These can be affected by simply coughing, moving the wrong way, or sleeping funny. A chiropractor may diagnose you with a "rib out" or a rib has lost its natural motion and is causing pain. Get it checked.

You might have pulled a muscle. There are muscles that run laterally down the sides of your body and over top of your ribs, and they can be overworked just like any other muscle if you are doing a new activity. Heat will help relax the muscle and relieve the pain.

It could be a muscle strain. I sometimes get a pain there if I have slept in an awkward position, laying across my arm.

Pain under the left breast could indicate a serious problem. It could mean you have a problem with you left lung or even you heart, which you would need to get checked out immediately. It could also just be a muscle pain.

It can't be such a pain for two days continuously without a reason. There may be two reasons for your pain one is that, you may have knocked yourself with any objects or you must have slept in a bad position, upside down. If the pain lasts long, its better to consult a doctor.
