What causes narrowing of the spine?

I have narrowing of the spine.

Narrowing of the spine can be congenital or can be the result of injury and or age. Spinal stenosis strikes people in their 50's and 60's causing severe back pain and weakness of the legs -it is progressive and has no cure as yet.

I'VE HAD 3 SURGERIES,'86-'90'-'93 1st sugery,cracked &herniated disc 2nd took out another third of disc,L3,last surgery bone fusion L3-L4-L5,now having problems with S1,have arthritis,degenerative disc disease,bone spurs,narrowing of spine,&problems with psyatica,bones closing up,pain is getting worse monthly,can anything be done?doctors don't want to touch me.  add a comment

Narrowing of the spine is know as Spinal Stenosis. Spinal Stenosis can be cause from aging, Arthritis, Heredity, Instability of the Spine, or Spondylolisthesis, Tumors of the spine.

Do you have something called spinal stenosis which is narrowing of the spine. Some things that can cause narrowing of the spine are age, arthritis, hereaditry, tumors of the spine and instability of the spine which is when a vertebra moves forward on another vertebra.Trama can also cause narrow also.

When the spine narrows to a certain point,the pain will be excruciating,most doctors understand this and will try to let you live a life as normal as possible.Being 45 and living with pain more than half your life,is an accomplishment,to your tolerance for pain,hang in there.
