Your lilac leaves curl due to lack of moisture. You should make sure that your plants are watered adequately and water them whenever the soil gets dry.

It is likely an insect that lays it's eggs in the leaves of your lilac plant. When they hatch they dry up and get curly. It can be aphids.

If the leaves don't straighten at night, spider mites would be a likely culprit. Look for webbing on the undersides. Wash off with soapy water.

The plant is eaten by a leave curl worm that is present in your lilac. If you had neglected the plant for a long this problem is bound to appear.
