Bananas go brown because they contain an enzyme that reacts with oxygen as the fruit ripens (kind of like rust forming). It reacts faster in warmer surroundings.

When you keep them in a sunny or hot area they start to turn brown. Keep it in the fridge so it lasts longer.

Actually bananas turn brown called because they contain an enzyme polyphenol oxidase or tyrosinase that reacts with oxygen. This oxidation reaction forms a sort of rust surface of the fruit.
