PCOS causes women to have irregular periods, but a single missed period is not enough to indicate the condition, though it may indicate increased stress, insufficient nutrition, or pregnancy. PCOS can be diagnosed by your obgyn through a few tests, but one period is just not enough to tell by.

Polycystic ovary disease is a disease where many cysts attack the ovaries leaving it difficult for a woman to get pregnant. Hormone levels are out of whack with someone who has PCOS, causing an individual to have infrequent periods and heavy bleeding.

While PCOS is considered one of those diseases that cause problems with getting pregnant you should not rule that out. The first thing you should do is test for pregnancy, and regardless of the results you should schedule an appointment with your doctor.

Women with PCOS often have irregular menstral cycles. Many women with PCOS do not ovulate normally and therefore do not have regular periods. Missing a period could mean that you are pregnant or that your cycles are out of whack.
