If you live near fields, grub worms can be a constant problem. When you first see these pests you need to spray a grubicide on the topsoil.

Try this "home remedy" to control them: Boil 1gal water. While water is boiling, add in 2 cups of antiseptic mouthwash. Then, add 2 cups of chewing tobacco juice, 2 cups of plain liquid soap and 1 cup of household ammonia. Boil again. Stir and apply to the affected area.

Take a trip to the nursery. They sell grub control for grass and maybe that where the problem is. Ask if you can use on plants.

I can tell you that the best way to keep them under control is to put salt on the ground around the base of the plant they won't cross it.
