Question by  Dawne (69)

What can you tell me about a central canal and bilateral foraminal stenosis and the recovery process?

I need to know more about central canal and bilateral foraminal stenosis.

Answer by  NYCCDC (311)

This is bony encroachment on the spinal cord and nerve roots in the spine. Conservative management can help with pain, but surgery is usually the option to totally eliminate it.

Simply put central canal and bilateral foraminal stenosis is what happens when the discs, muscles, and ligaments begin to degenerate. The recovery process has a couple of options, such as medication ( pain ), physical therapy, and surgery. Not necessarily in that order.

Well you need to make sure that you rest well during recovery. Don't do any physical or mental straining work as it will affect how you recover. Don't stress.
