A bit of discomfort due to having something unusual attached to you will be normal. Other wise, just go about your usual, daily routine or, if in the hospital, watch television. If you start to feel like you are having an issue, hit the button and it will record the pace and rhythm of you heart.

Your doctor's assistant will explain what you need to do for the particular type of monitor. Usually they ask you to record times of events you notice or your activity.

When wearing a heart event monitor, you will be intructed by the tech on the proper care of the monitor as you wear it continously for a certain period of time. This is typically 24 or 48 hours, as determined by the doctor. A diary will usually be kept by you as well, to coordinate what you were doing.

Wearing a heart monitor is not really a big deal. You basically wear a small machine around your body. It is strapped on so you don't need to worry about it moving around. It might be weird at first, but it is not all that uncomfortable.
