Two color process! 1. semi-permanent hair color that is one shade lighter with red or gold in it. 2. a permanent natural hair color or a shade darker.

When a good head of hair becomes a mess and is too light, then do a tintback to help rebuild the missing color pigments.

For a gentle warmth, try adding one or two darker shades, in small streaks, spread through entire hair. It will help blend and tone it down.

I had this problem once and tried to correct it. Whatever you do, make sure you go to a professional stylist to correct it or it will be a worse mess. Unfortunately, it will take a while for your hair to get healthy again.

Well the obvious answer would be to make it darker. If you like the light color, just don't like it as light as it is, try dying it a shade darker. You could also attempt to put lowlights (instead of hilights) in it to bring out the darker colors in it.
