You have a choice, pick them off one by one and drop them in a bucket of soapy water, or pick them off one by one and burn them.

You could have a bag worm infestation which can quickly kill your plantings. Take a cocoon to your extension office for further instructions on what to use to kill them.

Go to your nearest green house and tell them about the problem you are having they will be able to tell you what critter is doing it as well as how to get rid of it and how to get them off the arbervitae with out harming the plant. They will also tell you how to keep them away.

Well, that is pretty bad. I think you should get a insect spray or you just use raid and spray them off. You have to use a spray though. Otherwise your plants will be done.

You can pick the cocoons off of the trees and then spray .You can wait until spring or summer when the worms from the cocoons are feeding on the leaves and spray with a poison or you can dust them with poison.

The first thing you need to figure out what is building the caccoons and the treat for whats building them but if it isn't hurting the arborvites it should be ok usually a caccoon is only temporary and it doesn't take anything from what it is hanging on it just hangs there whatever is in it hatches shells blow away.

Cocoon's are the final product of silk larva. The cocoon can be used for rearing silk and the silk reeling process can be known through sericulture.
