Usually gas leaks will e there from the earth. Your floor underneath the carpet can have porehoes through which gas leaks through or makes the floor uneven

Humps under your carpet can be from a number reasons. It could be that the pad underneath the carpet is breaking up and forming lumps, The carpet could also be lose which can create bubbles, other possibilities could be nail heads in the sub floor.
