Fleas are "attracted" to any warm body. They prefer animals, which have a higher body temperature, but have no problem feeding on humans. Take steps to rid the environment of the fleas or to avoid areas where there are fleas.

You can buy pure lavender soap made with pure lavender oil and rub your skin with this. Give carefull attention to the ankles. For an internal remedy, you can take brewers yeast daily in a capsule form or in a granulated form. Fleas seem to stay away from those who have brewers yeast in their diet.

The only way is to get rid of the fleas. They made several products that are supposed to be good. One I have heard about is nemotoads (sp?). They will not harm people are pets and only attack the fleas, ants and other exoskeleton insects and they die once their work is done.

Aside from slathering yourself with insect repellent, not much. For an infestation, use indoor foggers and vacuum frequently and be sure to get into corners and hidden areas. Fleas need to be attacked at the source, which is usually a pet. The best products are Advantage or similar topical flea treatments for cats and dogs.

One thing that I have done in the past is spray my legs with Off! brand bug spray. This normally keeps the fleas off.
