Cats who are close to their owners often desire affection and attention. This means that your cats are happy and content with you, and have bonded with you. If one cat is getting attention, there may be a slight jealousy factor as well. If you own two cats, expect to pet two cats.

You are going to have to teach them that you cannot always give them attention. Get them plenty of toys to play with when you cannot be there to give them attention. Set out a time every day that you play with them and do nothing else.

Well if you can't give them the attention they need they you should buy them some cat toys. Basically cats just need to be played with and if you don't have the time to play with them personally then some cat toys should keep them entertained and they should be happy.

Try to teach them that it is okay to be by alone, and that they don't need you all the time. Put them by themselves in a small room for short periods of time with no attention. This will help avoid undesirable behaviors in your absence in the future.

Make sure you set aside play time for both cats each day and make sure they have plenty of toys and a cat tree to keep themselves occupied. The cat tree is great because it has plenty of things for them to do.
