An ulcer can cause intense pain in the pit of your stomach. If you eat something the pain can leave temporarily. Your doctor has to diagnose an ulcer.

There are no symptoms that are an absolute guarantee that you have an ulcer -- you have to go to the doctor and get checked out to be sure. However, many people with ulcers in the stomachs or intestines suffer from a burning or gnawing pain in the upper abdomen, sometimes just after or several hours after eating.
