Movie and television show genres are often the same. The oldest genres are drama and comedy. Nowadays there is also a wide range of other genres, including for example reality tv and music. Each of these genres have sub genres, for example historical drama and sitcom).
There are tons. Some are: comedy, drama, soap opera(which could be drama too), reality, crime, news, and romance. There are others, but those are the basics!
