The symptoms can vary by individual, but generally hypoglycemia is signaled by headaches, unexplained sweating and the sensation of being lightheaded. In cases of extreme hypoglycemia when your plasma glucose drops below 40-50 mg/dL, you start to see patients pass out and much lower than that you start to see convulsions and brain damage.

Those with hypoglycemia can get dizzy and feel a great lack of energy. It seems counter-intuitive, but the symptoms are often confused with diabetic symptoms, even though its cause is almost the polar opposite. (Thankfully, glaucoma and circulation problems associated with diabetes are NOT very common for those with hypoglycemia.

Symptoms of hypoglycemia include fatigue, dizziness, nausea, numbness, shaking and dilated pupils. This is due to low blood sugar levels. If left untreated, more severe symptoms include seizures, brain damage or even death.
