Contrary to popular belief, epilepsy refers not to a specific disease, but to a group of symptoms caused by a number of different conditions. Therefore, the symptoms would vary accordingly.

Symptoms may vary. - Imperceptible alteration in consciousness - Dramatic loss of consciousness, a cry, falling, tonic-clonic convulsions of all extremities, urinary/fecal incontinence, amnesia for event. - Some preceded by an aura; others no warning. - Other forms limited to muscular contractions of a localized area/one side of the body.
