The motor will not crank. The flywheel contains the magnet that supplies the current for the spark plug. The motor is now out of time. Not real hard to fix.

The main symptom of a broken flywheel key is that when you trun the key the mower just whines and will not start.

Timing will be off, flywheel will wiggle when properly tightend. When pull starting starter rope might suddenly rip out of hand, no spark.
