An 18 year-old in New York has nearly all of the rights of a legal adult. They may vote, enter into contracts, and own property. An eighteen-year-old may not drink however, as the legal drinking age is 21.

At 18 you are considered a adult, unless you have been found incapable of making your own decisions which takes a order by the court.
